Casablanca Media Publishing Inks Deal To Administer Catalogues Of Arc Music Group

Casablanca Media Publishing Inc. is pleased to announce that it has signed an agreement with Arc Music Group, parent company of Arc Music, Conrad Music, Regent Music, Jewel Music Publishing., Sunflower Music, and Sunflower Entertainment Company, to administer their publishing catalogues in Canada.

These catalogues include some of the greatest classic rock and roll, R & B, gospel, big band, jazz and surf music, including much of the timeless material from the Chess and Vee Jay records labels.

Some of the writers represented in these catalogues include legends Chuck Berry ("Johnny B. Join Sharon, Lois & Bram for a rare live performance by the Trio at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival and the presentation of the film "25 Years of Skinnamarink", a celebration of the Trio’s achievements in children’s music over the past 25 years of their career. Sharon, Lois & Bram will also be available to take questions and autograph CDs.

"25 Years of Skinnamarink" will be shown Sunday, May 4th at 11:00 am at the Bloor Cinema, 506 Bloor Street West, Toronto, (just east of Bathurst).

The Toronto Jewish Film Festival is one of the largest Jewish film festivals in the world attracting over 30,000 people. This year they will screen some 90 films from May 3-11, 2008.



Casablanca Media Publishing To Represent Global Jukebox Catalogue

Casablanca has signed a sub-publishing agreement to represent in Canada a catalog of songs edited, adapted, arranged, recorded and published by legendary American folklorist Alan Lomax and his father John Lomax, and controlled by Globeal Jukebox Publishing.

In the 1930s and early ‘40s Alan Lomax recognized the value of African American music as one of the richest sources of indigenous American culture and helped to develop the Library of Congress’ Archive of American Folk Song as a national resource, recording thousands of songs and oral histories in their original settings. Alan introduced Woody Guthrie, Aunt Molly Jackson, Lead Belly, Josh White, Burl Ives, Pete Seeger, Sonny Terry, and Jean Ritchie on national radio and in concerts, records, and books, igniting careers and folk song movements.

The Global Jukebox catalogue includes songs which were featured in "O Brother Where Art Thou", "Gangs of New York", "Skeleton Key", "Mission Impossible 2", "Their Eyes Were Watching God", "Deadwood" television series, Volvo and Ikea advertisements among other uses.



Casablanca Media Publishing To Represent Works Of Richard Pryor

Casablanca has signed a sub-publishing agreement to represent in Canada the catalog of stand-up material by seminal comedian Richard Pyror, spanning his career from the 1960’s to the 1990’s.

Richard Pryor is regarded as the most important comedian of his time. He was a trailblazer who injected social commentary into his comedy, giving other comedians license to follow in his footsteps. Richard Pryor appeared in over 40 films and his numerous recordings earned him two platinum albums, five golds, and five Grammy's. His works have been sampled by Tupac, 2 Live Crew, Beastie Boys, and NWA among others.



Casablanca Media Publishing Signs Deal With Kara Dioguardi

Casablanca has signed an administration deal to collect broadcast mechanical and private tape copying revenues for songs written by Kara DioGuardi (K'Stuff Publishing) in Canada.

Kara DioGuardi is BMI's 2007 Pop Songwriter of the Year. She has been awarded 9 BMI Pop Awards over the last 4 years for having written the most performed songs on the radio. One of the industry's most highly sought-after songwriters and producers, DioGuardi's hits have appeared on more than 100 million records.

From her catalog of several hundred songs, over 250 have been released on major labels worldwide; and over 80 have appeared on multi-platinum selling albums. In the past 3 years, she has had nearly 50 international charting singles and her songs have helped propel over 35 albums into Billboard's Top Ten. Casablanca has signed an administration deal to represent songs written by Madeleine Peyroux (Pennywell Publishing) in Canada.

Vocalist Madeleine Peyroux has been described as "a Billie Holiday for the 1990s". Her most recent CD, "Half The Perfect World", released in 2006, reached #1 on the Top Jazz Album Chart and peaked at #33 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Her music has been featured in television commercials (Dockers) as well as films and television series including "Failure To Launch" with Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey, "Last Holiday" with Queen Latifah, "Monster-in-Law" with Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda, and "Grey's Anatomy".
